The SCCA is the body responsible in providing services in areas of airport operations, air navigation, alerting and search. It is also involve in air transport planning, regulatory and safety oversight. SCAA is wholly owned by the Government.

The Authority’s vision is to become an Indian Ocean gateway above and beyond Africa. Its mission is to deliver on their promise of highest standards in safety, security and quality of service for the customers.

SCAA plans to achieve this by providing a balanced and cost effective approach to safety oversight, ensuring strategic planning for air transport development and promotion in Seychelles, ensuring safe, secure, smooth and efficient operations and high standards of facilitation and services in respect of” of passengers, aircraft and cargo, ensuring a safe and secure operating environment for aircraft, their passengers and crew, airport employees and other airport users, ensuring maintenance of environmental standards is in accordance with national and international requirements.                    

SCAA has reached a crucial momentum in its development whereby it needs to expand rapidly to meet the demands that it will face over the next few years. This is due to a culmination of different strategies deployed by Seychelles Government over the past five years to facilitate the development of tourism, air transport and trade. SCAA requires a sum of at least SR500 million to invest in much needed infrastructure development over the next five years.

SCAA is made up of the following operating divisions:

  • Regulatory and safety oversight
  • Air Transport Planning
  • Service provision in the following areas:

 Airport Operations

Air Navigation Services, Alerting and Search & Rescue Services

  • Business Development

For the future, SCAA is considering public-private partnerships options. There is a need for SCAA to adopt a more commercial approach to investments and target some quick-wins ventures.

The Seychelles Commercial Bank formerly known as ‘Seychelles Savings Bank’ came into being more than100 years ago. The Bank presently conducts fully fledged commercial banking activity, including housing loans and foreign exchange operations under the Financial Institutions Act, 2004, as amended.

The Government of Seychelles holds majority shares (76.55%) whilst account shareholders and staff hold 23.45% shares in the Bank. The Government intends to hold only 60% ownership in the Bank and hence planning to come out with an offer to sell the balance of 16.55 % to accountholders.

The Bank earned an Operating profit of SR17.37 million and after tax profit of SR9.45 million as at end December, 2012.

The Seychelles Commercial Bank seeks to meet fully and efficiently all the banking needs of its customers.

In 2013, the Bank revamped itself in terms  of new name, logo, font and slogan. Significantly, it repositioned itself so as to refelect the true nature of its activities which involoves not only catering to low income earners, but also providing all types of commercial banking facilities. Some of the new initiatibves by the Bank are:

The Bank projects a profit after tax of SR14.4 million in the year 2015.

The Seychelles Pension Fund is a cost sharing retirement system through contributions from employers, employees including the self-employed and investments. It provides pensions on retirement, in case of disability and to qualified surviving spouses and children in case of death of the member before and after retirement. It also provides benefits to dependents or heirs where the member does not have children or surviving spouse and through a lump sum payment equivalent to their contribution for those who eventually do not qualify for a pension.

In order to sustain the fund and effect due payments to its members, the Funds plan to achieve this by ensuring the right level of contribution to the Funds, a diversification in investment so as to reap the highest yield, control administrative costs and spending, enhance its services and maintain solvency.

For the future, the Fund plans to focus on the development of its properties so as to maximise returns which in turn will assist in sustaining the Fund in the long term. The plan has a long-term vision to generate sufficient income to pay pension and other benefits.

The Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (SEYPEC) was created on 2nd April 1985 to take over the responsibility of importing, marketing and distributing petroleum products in Seychelles.  As a Government-owned parastatal, run entirely by Seychellois nationals, it has been a credit to the nation’s growing self-reliance and expertise in a high technology sector.  Recognizing that energy is the lifeblood of any economy, the Company has consistently and reliably ensured supply of fuel and strives to continually improve efficiency, maximize cost-effectiveness and remain a competitive force in the region.

Up to March 2012, SEYPEC was fully integrated, its activities spread from upstream (oil exploration) and downstream (tanker ownership, supply and distribution of petroleum products).  With the recent segregation of the Exploration division, the Company aims to review and strategize its remaining sectors, namely, the domestic market, bunkering and aviation refuelling activities, and tanker ownership.
